Roof support Installed
8/17/10
About a week later the building is taking shape.
There are a couple of items in this picture that are worthy of note
- First note the door and the walls on each side are installed.
The pictures in the instructions show the door going in last; however,
the door is designed to have the roof lock into the frame. There is
also not enough room to put the walls in after the roof is installed.
Thus all had to be installed at the same time. That required some
finesse.
- Second note the vertical 2x4s. The next picture explains what is
going on here
- Since I live in earthquake country I used 1/4" aluminum angle for
the braces and doubled the braces in a number of places
- I attached the bottom of the frame with 24 4" 5/16 HDG lag bolts
- I put in some 3/8" bolts in the roof
- The door is off center. That is proving to be convenient now that
I am using the building. It did require cutting one of the wall panels.
In the end it was pretty easy.
- Since the door was off center I had to add another vertical to
its left.
- The bottom of the frame is on rubber sheeting. Simpson
recommended this to prevent corrosion. It may be unnecessary since the
frame sits on weatherstripping.
